This is a great buy for several reasons. The fabric is of a quality grade satin and it's got a strong zipper, its an all around flattering line for different body shapes, and PacificPlex sends out your delivery in a wink! I ordered my red version on a Wednesday morning and recieved it that Saturday afternoon. I have one issue with this dress: even though I ordered it exactly to my personal measurements (42/34/42, a 2X), it was much too large on me.

5 Steps to Applying Eyeliner Like a Pro

Step 1: Start with a Clean Face
This may seem obvious, but it is absolutely necessary. Start with a clean face and make sure to pay close attention to the eye area. Since you have natural folds around the eye, it is easy for dirt and oils to get trapped there.

Step 2: Prep the Eyes
With a clean brush, wipe away any existing makeup from the where the eyelid meets the lashline. Next, use a small bit of translucent powder and gently apply to that same area. At this step, you will also want to sharpen any eyeliner pencils if necessary. If you are a novice to eyeliner, a traditional kohl pencil would be your best choice. With one hand, using your ring finger, lightly press the skin just below the center of your lower lashline. With your other hand, place the pencil tip on top of the lashes at the outer corner, slant it so the side rests on the lashline, and draw inward (directly on the lashline). Stop just short of the tear duct (the tiny hole you see in your lower eyelid). Repeat for other eye.

Step 5: Blend & Finish
This step may not be necessary if you have large eyes that tend to dominate your face. However for others, the sharp lines of the pencil tend to make eyes look smaller, so soften the edges by gently blending them with a wedge makeup sponge. To finish the look, use a taupe or neutral eye shadow across your eyelids for a daytime effect. For a more dramatic evening look, use a shadow that is the same color as your eyeliner or use two eyeshadows that are a few shades lighter that your eyeliner. Finish with your favorite mascara.

Why would anyone ever pay so much money for a custom airbrush tan? I have a lot of people asking me this question every day in my business.

Well, I have to say, it does seem like a lot of money is "forked out" for a sunless tan that lasts 7-10 days on average. But, when you think of the costs to your health involved with UV tanning, the spray tan begins to look like a real bargain.

The primary ingredient used in spray tans is DHA(dihydroxyacetone). It has been FDA approved for this use for several years, and is generally considered to be safe by the tanning industry. For people who burn easily in the sun and for those who have a hard time tanning in the sun or tanning booths, spray tans offer a safe alternative.

Even for those of us who can obtain a tan relatively easily, spray tans can have enormous benefits over UV tanning. Just because a person can tan easily with UV exposure does not mean they are not doing considerable damage to their skin. A person in their 20's may not yet see the long-term damage associated with UV tanning, but we've all seen the 35-40 year old who has spend a lifetime in the sun. The increase in age spots, wrinkles, roughness of the skin, moles, and freckles all are a direct result of too much time in the sun. Tanning beds are no safer, either. They have the same problems associated with them as with outside sun exposure.

With custom airbrush/spray tanning, you get the best of all worlds. Spray tan booths, while better than UV tanning, can tend to give you uneven and orange color, because they are a one-size-fits-all approach. With custom spray tans, an airbrush specialist customizes your color and sprays it on your body evenly, fading it in the areas that would naturally be lighter even with sun tanning. It is the more expensive route to take, but over time and with repeated spray tans, can tend to last longer, especially with good maintenance, as discussed in my article, How To Maintain a Spray Tan.

So, the more you spray tan, the less expensive it becomes over time. Very often, you can purchase packages to help offset the cost as well. My company will offer discounts for multiple spray tans. I have spent upwards of $80-$100 a month in the past for traditional UV tanning booths. With traditional UV booths, I had to go to the tanning bed several times a month to maintain my color. With spray tanning, it is more expensive initially, but you can get a comparable color to UV tanning in 3-4 sessions a month. Some companies, including mine, offer mobile airbrush tanning services, which can also save you time and gas.

With the health benefits of spray tanning combined with the savings in time spent going to a traditional tanning salon, especially if you are using a mobile tanning company, as well as the gas savings, spray tans can become a cost effective way to maintain a beautiful, bronze color year around.

Use a light weight eye gel or cream masque which does not cause milia seeds or oil seeds. Apply around the eyes, rest and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Wash your eye area with clean water.
Use ready made at the counter eye pads masque. Leave it on eye area for 10-15 minutes or as instructed. Remove and wash your eye area with clean water after that.
Apply a light weight eye gel or cream around the eyes.

Always brace your wrist and tilt your head slightly before applying the liner as this will create a good angle for application while allowing you to see what your doing. On the top lid, draw from corner to corner with a even stroke for a precise line. Use several smaller strokes just under the bottom lash. This will give a soft natural line with effortless application. When lining your eyes, don't allow the top and bottom lines to meet. This will tend to make your eyes look smaller then they are. Try blending the top and bottom corners together with a shadow that is several shades lighter than the liner.

The darker the color, the more dramatic your look will become. If you have applied to much and your look seems to harsh, take a small eye shadow brush with a sponge tip and gently smudge the top & bottom lines. It will create softness to your eyes. You might try to practice on your arm or hand prior to applying to your eyes.

Mineral Liners are gentler on your skin then pencil liners. Pencil liners tend to pull the delicate skin around your eye. Great definition is accomplished by mixing mineral liners with water and applying them wet. Place one or two drops of water in the lid of the minerals and gently swirl you brush mixing them. Then glide the brush in one smooth continuous line. This will give precise definition. Avoid using short strokes with wet liners. It tends to look messy and uneven.

Lining the inside of your lids are not recommended as it can cause a host of problems including eye infections. Avoid sharing your liners with others due to bacteria spreading from one person to another. Always wash your liner brush when applying new colors. Even the smallest amount of color left on the brush can alter the color your testing.

Experiment with a wide variety of vivid shades to make your sultry eyes stand out. Blue, soft grays or soft black colors beautifully accent light eyes, while brown and plum colors intensify brown & green eyes. Whether you choose a soft focus finish or a more dramatic bold look, start slowly and work with the natural shape of your eyes building the color and depth as you go. Use eye shadow colors and liners that compliments the color of your eyes so that your eyes & face are brought together for stunning beauty.

For a spectacular flashback to Biblical times in the movie Noah's Ark in 1929, Max Factor was suddenly called upon to make up over 2,000 extras before the day's shooting began. Although Max had personally trained 40-plus makeup artists to handle studio requirements, few could be called in from their assignments on such a short notice, and the process of doing full body makeup was a lengthy one. With little time to solve the problem, Max and his son Max Jr. hit upon the idea of "mass makeup." By adding a liquid solvent to their regular foundation, they could spray the actors' bodies and faces just as car manufactures painted their products. Spraying provided a quick solution for large groups of extras. Although the stars and featured actors that required close-ups had to be carefully and individually made up, the extras lined up and were sprayed in groups.

Airbrush has become a mainstream for makeup artists, especially for those in television and film. One of the first TV shows to use airbrush makeup on set was "Ally McBeal"in 1998. Here's a handy rule if you want to be a boomer babe! For heavens sakes, GO EASY ON THE MAKE-UP. As our hair lightens and begins to go grey, our eyebrows also lighten, our skin pales and we start to look washed out.

Many boomer babes try to compensate by piling on the make up. We think that bright lipstick, lots of blush, tons of eye shadow, and dark eyeliner will restore our youth. But, bright make-up after 40 will make you look like a clown or female impersonator!

1. Avoid Heavy Foundation
Since your skin dries and dulls as it ages, it's best to switch to a dewier look. Trade in your heavy matte foundation, which gives you that mask look, for a tinted moisturizer. If you want more coverage try, mixing your foundation with some moisturizer to thin it out, or mix your foundation with a tinted moisturizer. You may also want to check out 'light reflecting foundations' especially created for over 40 skin because they reflect light off those little wrinkles.

2. Put away the Powder
Too much powder can make you dry and cakey. If you must use powder because you have oily skin, use loose powder in the T-zone, only.

3. Switch Your Blush

Powder Blush is heavy looking on mature lined skin. Instead try a cream blush. It's more natural looking and will make you look vibrant.

4. Examine your Eye Shadows
If you are over 40 be careful with shimmering shadows. Too much sparkle accentuates creepy eyelids. Also avoid too much bright color on your eyes. Neutral colored eye shadows- beiges, browns, creams, grays, taupes, will show off your eyes instead of your eyelids.

5. Don't let Eyeliner Overpower
Don't use black...too harsh. Instead, try dark brown and then blend well with a brown powder. Best way to apply it is as close to the eyelash as possible, dotting between lashes and then smoothing out the line, or even better just under your upper lashes. Your eyes will appear much bigger.

6. Baby your Brows
Your eyebrows create a beautiful frame to showcase your eyes so don't neglect them as you age. Be sure to keep them in good shape so they don't get scraggly. After 40 many women tend to let the brow go pale and darken the lips at this stage, when in fact you should darken the brows so they frame your eyes and lighten up the lips.

7. Lighten Your Lips
Soften lips with pinks, corals, light browns, nothing too dark or too bright or there will be too much contrast between your lips, skin and hair. Too much contrast makes you look hard.

8. Use a Light Hand with Lip Liner
Good idea to use a liner to prevent lip bleed If you are over 40, but keep it soft in color and application. You should not be able to tell you have it on.

9. Banish Pasty Face
The older we get the paler we get and that old lady look starts to kick in. To avoid this try using a very light bronzer to finish off your look and give your skin a youthful sun kissed glow. To apply: Hold your bronzing brush at your temple and round it down in a sweeping motion to your cheekbone (creating a backwards c motion). From your cheekbone, round it down in a sweeping motion to just below the jaw line (creating another backwards c). Repeat on the other side.

In order to highlight your eyes, you will use a lighter shade or the base color from the lash line to the brow. The concept of wearing jeans in water dates back to their very beginning and continues today. Levi's were originally produced in only three sizes, and the wearer would jump into a body of water like a creek, a pond, or a horse trough, to shrink them to fit as snug as a glove. Today, jeans are available in a variety of styles, from tight to loose fit, and are sold either pre-washed or shrink-to-fit and rigid.

Shrink To Fit Tanks
Levi Strauss has shrink tanks in some of their stores, allowing the customers to purchase a pair of jeans and submerge in a tank of water while their new jeans shrink. The size on this 501xx label is the size before the jeans have been washed, and identifies them as Shrink to Fit Jeans made of super tough XX denim. Buy your jeans one inch bigger in the waist if you like a snug fit and a couple of inches on the leg, so you can turn them up to suit and allow for further shrinkage during the first few washes. There is a difference between the standard Levis 501s and the 501 Shrink-to-Fit jeans. The Shrink-to-Fit jeans have the best denim and are just the most hardcore jeans you can buy. They may take up to a year to break in. For the first 3 months you feel like a joker in navy blue pants. Everyone is out wearing destroyed jeans, and you are out wearing stuff that looks brand new.
While you may agree with some of the comments regarding the variable and often lower quality of the Levi's 501 jeans manufactured outside of the United States, by and large the same negatives do not apply to the shrink-to-fit 501's. These are still made from the original indigo-dyed rigid denim manufactured Cone mills in North Carolina, and are still of good quality.

Button Fly
The two good things about Levis 501s is the weight of the denim and the button fly instead of a zipper fly. The advantage of the button fly is it does not jam or get stuck from mud and sand. The 14 1/2 ounce denim is the maximum thickness that is flexable enough to cling when wet. Any heavier, the denim will not cling when wet.

Back Pockets
Something you can also do is take the back pockets off. Just undo the stitching before you shrink them. In the bath some of the dye comes off, so it looks like there were no back pockets.

How to shrink your jeans
Now we come to the fun part. Wear your jeans in your bath and let them dry on you. To get a perfect fit the jeans need to shrink to your size, no further.
First Time
The first soaking of your jeans or jeans jacket should be done in a good hot bath, as hot as you can stand it. Simply get into the bath and enjoy that lovely smell of new wet denim. Don't tuck in any other clothes or wear anything inside your jeans. The water and anything else you wear turns blue after a while as the indigo colour is likely to run. Avoid soap as this causes the indigo colour to pale.
Soak the garment in the water for at least 10 minutes, stand up, sit down, move around gently to prevent patching occurring from any excess indigo dye. Stay in the bath until the water cools down.

When you get out, drain the water away, squat down and squeeze the water out of the fabric. Stand up and if possible let the jeans dry naturally while still you're wearing them; this is how you get that perfect fit. The jeans will mould about your body and retain your form for optimum fit. You can almost feel them shrinking on to you.

Alternatively take them off and place on a hanger to dry. Don't put them in the dryer or they may shrink too far and lose your shape. Always lay your jeans on a towel to dry or hang them with clothespins so that no part of the jeans is folded over.

Subsequent Soakings
Always wash your "shrink-to-fit" jeans while you're still wearing them, at least for the first 3 to10 times. This will further improve their fit. Go swimming in your new 501s. Wear them into the hot tub. Then go back into the swimming pool. Remember to let them dry on you, if possible.
Shrinkage of the jeans will occur over the course of the first three soakings. This will continue, if only slightly, until about the 10th time. Now you have the perfect swimming jeans. Enjoy!

Fashionable new styles are great, but unless one is a size 00 or a teen girl, they are hard to wear. Fixing this problem is simple and easy. To be smart and classy, all a women needs color, coordination, and confidence.

Let's start with color. Have you started to notice any trends in the color palette that is currently hitting stores? If you said, 'Everything,' you're just about right. This spring appears to be one where strong, vibrant, and whatever-you-like are the color tips of the season. So what's your favorite color one that makes your skin glow or your eyes look luminous, or one that just makes you feel all-around good about yourself? Then that's the color you should be wearing.

Next is the idea of coordination. Am I talking about if you stumble as you walk up the stairs or slip as you enter a room? Not exactly. Instead, what I'm discussing is whether the style of your dress, along with any accessories you choose, will make the most of your best features. Wear a pair of heels in the latest style with your knee-length dress. After all, the key to coordination is the package you present.

Stay confident. Look for the people you admire the most for their beauty. Most of them will have at least one thing in common. Without any regards to their physical appearance being tall or short, or large, or medium, or small, they will be full of confidence. So you too need to gain such confidence. Look at yourself. Consider the best part of yours. Either it's your smile, or your eyes, or your hands. Whatever first strikes your mind. Now add second and third part to it. Of course, there is a plethora of products on the market that will claim to restore the natural beauty of your hair, but doesn’t it makes sense to use natural remedies instead of shampoos and conditioners that are loaded with chemicals?

Here’s some natural ingredients you might want to try on your hair. Not only will they make your hair look great but these will cost you a lot less than those expensive salon products.

Oil
Plain old everyday cooking oil will work just as good as any hot oil treatment and is a great way to rehydrate your hair. Take a couple of tablespoons of oil and work it through your hair paying special attention to the ends. If your hair is dry on the ends but greasy on top, skip the top and just massage it into the ends. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse out thoroughly. Your hair might feel a little greasy after this and you might want to experiment with the amount of oil until you get it just right.

Another way to use oil to give your hair more moisture and make it shiner is to use an oil and honey mixture. Try 2 tablespoons oil to 1 tablespoon honey and massage into your hair. Let it sit for 10 minutes then rinse thoroughly. Don’t shampoo it out, simply rinse it and then style your hair as you usually would.

Eggs
Eggs are good food and they are good for your hair too! In fact, eggs are one of the best natural hair conditioners around so don’t be afraid to use it on your hair. You can make an egg mixture for your hair by beating one egg and ½ cup water. Massage it into your hair and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then simply rinse it out and style your hair.

Mayonnaise
Mayonnaise can act as a deep conditioner and is especially good on dry and over processed hair. Look for real mayonnaise (not salad dressing) in the store. You want to use it on your hair while it is dry and slather it on, massaging it into every hair follicle right down to the ends. Then wrap your head in plastic wrap (yes, the kind you use for wrapping up food) and let sit for 25 minutes then rinse and style. Yes, it can be kind of messy but will really add shine to your hair!

Maple Syrup
This is another great, but messy natural hair conditioner. Use 100% pure maple syrup and massage it into your hair. Let sit for 10 minutes then rinse thoroughly and style your hair as normal.

But what good is shiny silky hair if it is dotted with flaky dandruff? If you suffer from these annoying flakes you might want to try some of these natural remedies to treat your scalp:
Grapeseed extract is said to be great for helping eliminate dandruff and you can add it right to your shampoo. Speaking of which if you are using a commercial shampoo, you want to be sure to use one that has tar extract as this will help to treat the dandruff.

Using an apple cider rinse can help control dandruff as well. Mix ½ cup water and ½ cup apple cider vinegar and apply it to your hair. Leave in for 1 hour. Wash your hair, rinse and style.

What makes a person beautiful? Our society places an inordinate amount of emphasis on being thin, made up, wearing the "right clothes", being seen in the "right places", having the "right breast size", and the list goes on. What happens to girls and women who subscribe to these societal beliefs? Men fall victim to this as well, but for whatever reasons, girls and women are the most susceptible. Depression, eating disorders, self esteem issues abound.

The driving force in a woman's physical beauty is actually her health, not her breast size or cost of her clothing. Health including both her physical, and emotional health. When a woman is physically healthy, there is an attractive glow about her. When a woman is emotionally healthy, that glow is magnified and radiates for the world to see. There is a light, a spark, an energy that ignites.

A beautiful woman is kind, gentle, thoughtful, unselfish, and patient. Slow to speak so as not to respond in anger when provoked, she takes time to think before responding. When walking "in the flesh" the thoughts are of this world, satisfying whatever it is that is craved for at that moment. When walking "in the spirit"...Isaiah 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts".

God's thoughts are higher than people's thoughts. The trick is to aspire to think the way God thinks. "Whatsoever things are true, Whatsoever things are honest, Whatsoever things are just, Whatsoever things are pure, Whatsoever things are lovely, Whatsoever things are of good report: If there be any virtue, And if there be any praise, Think on these things." Philippians 4:8. If you change your thinking, your actions will naturally follow. But it's real effort. It doesn't just happen, you have to MAKE it happen.

Dry Winter Skin: How to Deal with it

Your skin in winter can become dry to the point of being painful. I myself began feeling the effects of the cooler weather in early October. My lips became tender and chapped, and I had to switch to a different formula of daily facial cleanser because the exfoliating beads in my current cleanser were irritating my skin. I’ll have to limit my daily exfoliation to just twice a week. Also my hands and feet became very dry.

Indoors you’re subjected to dry heat and outdoors you’re bombarded with harsh winter UV rays from the sun and chilling winds. Yes, the sun’s rays are still just as dangerous as in summer and they will reflect off any snowy surfaces, bouncing the rays right back on to you. You’re going to need a good facial moisturizer with SPF in it.

Here are some more tips to help you combat dry winter skin:
Use a lip balm (preferably with SPF) and do not lick your lips under any circumstances. That just makes it worse. Keep your hands moisturized with a good quality hand cream.

Drink plenty of water and limit your alcohol intake. Alcohol is a dehydrator.

Buy a humidifier if you don’t already have one. It may help keep your heating bills down as well. You know, the whole heat and humidity thing. Think Amazon rainforest.

Use a shower filter. It will filter out the skin-drying chlorine in your tap water. Avoid hot water even though it feels good on a cold winter morning. It will only strip your skin of its natural oils and cause water to evaporate more quickly. Also, it pays to switch from soap which can dry the skin, to a silky body wash which will help your skin retain moisture. Pat your skin dry when exiting the shower, don’t rub. Apply a nice moisturizer to help seal in moisture.

When the humidity drops to 50 percent or less, you will need to pay even more attention to your moisturization routine. Stay away from harsh scrubs or cleansers since they will eliminate most of the skin’s oils and dry your skin out more easily. This applies to skin care products as well as cleaning products.

My favorite winter skin care tip is before you go to bed, apply a thick, rich moisturizer to your feet, concentrating on the heel area. Then put on a nice cushy pair of socks. When you wake up your feet will be soft and smooth and well-hydrated.

Not paying attention to extremely dry skin can lead to health issues and act as a welcome mat for rashes and skin infections. So take good care of your skin and enjoy your winter!
